Ignacio Sanchez AmorIgnacio Sanchez Amor (Spain)

Ignacio Sanchez Amor was appointed Special Representative on OSCE Border Issues in December 2012 by President Riccardo Migliori.

Sanchez Amor is a member of the Spanish Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee and serves as Head of the Spanish Delegation to the OSCE PA.

Sanchez Amor was previously vice president of the Association of European Border Regions. He also held a seat in the regional Assembly of Extremadura and served as Deputy President of the government of the region, which is on the Spain-Portugal border.

Mandate:

  • Enhance the work of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on OSCE border issues;

  • Raise awareness in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly regarding border-related issues and the implementation of the OSCE Border Security and Management Concept;

  • Promote co-operation in and among border regions in the OSCE area;

  • Maintain contact with and follow-up the work of OSCE Borders Team and OSCE Field Missions regarding border-related issues;

  • Monitor the situation of the external borders of the OSCE and report to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and to the President on developments.
