Helsinki Commission members speak at a ceremony at the Newseum
The Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission and Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Senator Benjamin L. Cardin, House Majority Leader and former Chairman of the Helsinki Commission Steny Hoyer, and its Co-Chairman, Congressman Alcee L. Hastings were among the speakers at a ceremony at the Newseum in Washington, DC, on 4 November 2009 commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
They spoke to diplomats and human rights leaders as well as to present and former staff members of the Helsinki Commission that included the Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Spencer Oliver.
