2011 Fall Meetings in Dubrovnik

2011-FM-Dubrovnik-Opening-Session2More than 200 parliamentarians from across the 56-country OSCE region met in Dubrovnik on 7-10 October to discuss progress in South East Europe, co-operation in the Mediterranean region, and heard a special presentation from Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group on OSCE conflict resolution. The OSCE PA's Tenth Fall Meetings also included a meeting of the Standing Committee of Heads of Delegations on 9 October.

"This region is now showing freedom, security and prosperity are not values that stop at any borders," said President Petros Efthymiou on the opening day. "They are the common ideals that live inside us all and shared commitments that we as parliamentarians, diplomats and government leaders must always work to renew."

2010 Fall Meetings in Palermo

2010-FM-Palermo-Panel-Opening-SessionOver 200 parliamentarians from 50 countries participated in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Ninth Fall Meetings in Palermo, Sicily, from 8-11 October 2010. Hosted by the Italian Parliament, the Fall Meetings included a Conference on "The Fight against Transnational Organized Crime and Corruption," as well as meetings of the Mediterranean Forum and Standing Committee.

Featured speakers included OSCE PA President Petros Efthymiou (Greece), OSCE PA Vice-President and head of the Italian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly, Riccardo Migliori, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, and Kanat Saudabayev, Kazakhstan's Minister of Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.

Speakers from Italy included Francesco Cascio, President of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, and the Presidents of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and Senate, Gianfranco Fini and Renato Schifani, as well as several Cabinet ministers. Also participating were representatives of Italy's National Anti-Mafia Bureau, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Transparency International and Interpol.

2009 Fall Meetings in Athens

2009-FM-Athens-Soares-Opening-SessionUnder the theme of Energy Security and Environment, almost 200 members from 50 countries of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly met in Athens for the Fall Meetings 9 to 12 October.

"Long-term sustainability, energy security, and environmental solutions must be viewed hand-in-hand," said President Joao Soares in his conclusions of the Meetings. "Our responses cannot be successful if only enacted on a national level; they must be broad in their scope and approach."

2008 Fall Meetings in Toronto

2008-FM-Toronto-Grafstein-Georgia-DebateThe OSCE PA's 2008 Fall Meetings took place from 18 to 21 September in Toronto, hosted by the Parliament of Canada. The meetings included a major inter-parliamentary conference focused on "The OSCE in an Open World: Trade, Migration, and Security." Bringing together Members of Parliaments from across the OSCE's 56 countries, the conference contributed to parliamentary dialogue on these important topics.

2007 Fall Meetings in Portoroz

From 29 September to 1 October, parliamentarians from across the OSCE met in Portoroz, Slovenia, for the Assembly's annual Fall Meetings. The meetings consisted of a conference, a meeting of the Standing Committee, and a Forum on the Mediterranean. The parliamentary conference, organized within the Parliamentary Troika of the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe, focused on 'Security Through Co-operation in South East Europe: The Role of Parliamentarians'.

2006 Fall Meetings in Malta

From 17 to 19 November 2006, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly met in Malta for its annual Fall Meetings. The meetings brought together more than 250 participants from 51 countries for a conference, Mediterranean Forum and meeting of the Assembly's Standing Committee. The meetings were addressed by senior representatives from Malta, the OSCE and other countries in the region. Special guest representatives from Libya also participated in the OSCE PA meetings for the first time.
