OSCE Parliamentary Assembly May Adopt Special Resolution on Occupied Territories

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly may adopt special resolution on the occupied territories of Georgia. The assembly is planned to be held in Oslo in summer.

As Vice Speaker of parliament of Georgia Gigi Tsereteli told journalists after today's meeting with President of the parliamentary assembly of the OSCE Joao Soares, Georgian side will present important resolution to the OSCE Parliamentary assembly sitting in Oslo.

Situation in occupied territories, thematic of returining refugees, mechanisms of forcing Russia to live up to its commitments and issues of resuming OSCE mandate were also discussed on the meeting today.

Gigi Tsereteli noted that OSCE Parliamentary Assembly must be involved in conflict regulation process as much as possible to hasten the process.
OSCE representatives reiterated readiness to monitor local self-governance elections in Georgia.

President of the parliamentary assembly of the OSCE Joao Soares has arrived for a two-day visit in Georgia today.

Joao Soares will hold meetings with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Vice-Premier and State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Issues Giorgi Baramidze, Minister of Refugees and Accommodation Koba Subeliani and Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandre Nalbandov. Meetings are also scheduled with representatives of a society and NGOs.

Joao Soares will leave Georgia for Armenia on 10 March.
