COPENHAGEN, 19 September 2018 – OSCE PA Special Representative on Mediterranean Affairs Pascal Allizard is in Rabat this week, where he has held a series of meetings to discuss issues including migration, co-operation and Moroccan relations with Europe. Morocco, an OSCE Mediterranean Partner for Co-operation, is scheduled to host the OSCE PA’s 2019 Autumn Meeting in Marrakech.
Special Representative Allizard, who also serves as Vice-President of the Assembly, was joined by PA Member Jean Bizet, Chair of the French Senate’s Committee for European Affairs, and held meetings including with Prime Minister Dr Saadeddine El Othmani, Head of the OSCE PA’s Moroccan Delegation Mohammed El Bakkouri, and Minister of Finance Moulay Hafid El Alami.
Allizard welcomed the active engagement of Morocco in meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly and noted that the OSCE PA’s Mediterranean Forum will be held next month during the Autumn Meeting in Bishkek. As Special Representative, Allizard is mandated to facilitate parliamentary dialogue in the region and to enhance the Mediterranean dimension of the Assembly’s work.
