OSCE PA Web Dialogue "Transparency and Predictability in Military Affairs: The Role of the OSCE"

A Parliamentary Web Dialogue for parliamentarians to discuss transparency and predictability in military affairs and the role of the OSCE.

 → Monday, 14 June 2021, 16:00 – 18:00 (CEST)
→ Livestreaming here and on YouTube & Facebook

Transparency and openness are the cornerstones of OSCE’s approach to military security and stability implemented through a periodical exchange of military information, with OSCE participating States having made a number of commitments to exchanging military information. Verification of compliance with agreed commitments create a set of important measures that serve as early warning indicators and contribute to a mutual trust and confidence building.

Under the auspices of the Bureau of the OSCE PA’s Committee on Political Affairs and Security, the seminar, designed for a parliamentary audience, will examine the history and application of these information-sharing commitments as well as the current state of their application by OSCE participating States.

The event will be chaired by U.S. Congressman Richard Hudson, Chair of the OSCE PA’s General Committee on Political Affairs and Security, and will feature presentations by Prof. Beatrice Heuser, Chair of International Relations of the University of Glasgow; Robin Mossinkoff, Senior FSC Support Officer of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre; and Dr. Ian Anthony, Director of SIPRI’s European Security Programme.
