Maria Karapetyan (Armenia) was elected Vice-President of the Assembly at The Hague Annual Session in July 2026.
Active in public life since the 2018 Velvet Revolution, Maria Karapetyan has been a member of the National Assembly of Armenia since 2019, sitting with the Civil Contract Party. She is currently a member of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, having previously served on the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs. Since her election, she has also been Head of Armenia's Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.
Before entering parliament, Maria Karapetyan worked for several years in the field of conflict transformation. She served as Development Director at the Imagine Center for Conflict Transformation and as a member of the editorial board of the Caucasus Edition: Journal of Conflict Transformation. She was also an educator at Quality Schools International and a Fellow of the Italian association Rondine Cittadella della Pace.
She holds a Master's Degree in Peace Studies from the University of Roma Tre, a Master's Degree in European Studies and a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication from the Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences.
