COPENHAGEN, 17 October 2025 — OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Pere Joan Pons has appointed Sharon Hodgson, Head of the United Kingdom Delegation to the OSCE PA, as Chair of the Parliamentary Support Team for Ukraine (PSTU). This appointment underscores the President’s commitment to keeping Ukraine at the forefront of its agenda during a time of escalating humanitarian and security challenges.
Ms. Hodgson will assume leadership of the PSTU, working in close co-ordination with Co-Chairs Mykyta Poturaiev (Ukraine), Head of the Ukrainian Delegation, and Representative Joe Wilson (United States), who also serves as Co-Chair of the U.S. Helsinki Commission. Her appointment is aimed at ensuring sustained parliamentary engagement and strategic oversight of the Assembly’s support for Ukraine.
President Pons’s recent visit to Kyiv reaffirmed the urgency of the situation on the ground, particularly as Ukraine approaches the harsh winter season amid Russia’s continued and systematic targeting of civilian infrastructure, including energy grids. The visit highlighted the critical need for enhanced international support and parliamentary action.
“I am confident that Ms. Hodgson will provide the leadership the PSTU requires in these critical times,” said President Pons. “Her dedication and experience will enable the OSCE PA to raise awareness on urgent issues and contribute meaningfully in line with our Declarations and commitments.”
In response to her appointment, Sharon Hodgson stated:
“I am honoured to take on this responsibility at such a pivotal moment. I look forward to working closely with President Pons, Co-Chairs Poturaiev and Wilson, and all members of the PSTU to advance our shared mission of supporting Ukraine and upholding international law, the UN Charter, and the core values of the OSCE.”
Established in 2023, the PSTU serves as the OSCE PA’s dedicated mechanism to co-ordinate parliamentary efforts in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and democratic resilience. As reaffirmed in the Porto Declaration adopted at the 2025 Annual Session, the Assembly has expanded PSTU’s mandate with policy innovation and international co-operation reinforcing its role as a central platform for shaping and advancing the Assembly’s response to Russia’s full-scale military invasion and war of aggression against Ukraine.
