OSCE PA President visits OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Kyiv

KYIV, 22 April 2013 – OSCE PA President Wolfgang Grossruck is in Kyiv today to meet with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Leonid Kozhara. The two-day visit is focused on promoting co-operation with the Chairmanship particularly on issues related to Moldova, energy security, and the OSCE’s Helsinki +40 process.

Accompanied by Special Representative Andreas Nothelle and Senior Advisor of the Austrian Parliament Lukas Mussi, President Grossruck will discuss the Chairmanship’s priorities for 2013 and the progress of its working programme. Another focus area of the meeting will be the upcoming election observation missions in Bulgaria and Albania and the reactivated 1997 Co-operation Agreement, which guides OSCE election observation activities.

Grossruck will also brief Kozhara on the OSCE PA Bureau Meeting that took place from 14-15 April in Copenhagen, and discuss other ongoing work of the Assembly, including its 22nd Annual Session taking place in Istanbul on 29 June – 3 July. Kozhara is expected to address the opening plenary of the session on 29 June.

The PA delegation also has meetings scheduled in Kyiv with President Viktor Yanukovych, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak.
