Statement of President Grossruck on attacks at the Boston Marathon

COPENHAGEN, 16 April 2013 – President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Wolfgang Grossruck today issued the following statement regarding the bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon:

"I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the bombing attack at the Boston Marathon. I extend condolences to the families of the victims and all our friends and colleagues in the United States shaken by this senseless violence.

"This historic race in Boston - and sport the world over – can be and is a great unifier for our peoples, but now we must come together to mourn those innocently struck by this violent act. We stand today with the American people and behind President Barack Obama's call for a federal investigation into the bombing and his pledge to bring the perpetrators to justice."
