In Copenhagen, OSCE PA Secretary General deplores weekend’s terror attacks

COPENHAGEN, 15 February 2015 – OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Secretary General Spencer Oliver issued the following statement today on the weekend's dual terror attacks in Copenhagen:

"I deplore in the strongest terms this weekend's terror attacks in Copenhagen, the home city of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's International Secretariat. These barbaric and cowardly acts targeted not only a public seminar and a synagogue, but the modern European values of tolerance, freedom of expression and freedom of religion that Denmark epitomizes. Europe's political and religious leaders must find a way to respond effectively in the face of extremism to safeguard the values that we hold so dear.

"On behalf of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, I extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victims, the people of Copenhagen and Denmark and the country's Jewish community. I also commend the swift and efficient response to these attacks by Copenhagen's police and investigators."
