International election observers in United States to hold press conference on Wednesday

WASHINGTON, 7 November 2016 – The international observers monitoring the general elections in the United States will present their preliminary post-election statement at a news conference on Wednesday, 9 November, in Washington, D.C.

The mission is a joint undertaking of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA).

The statement will be delivered by Christine Muttonen, Special Co-ordinator and leader of the short-term OSCE observer mission, followed by Makis Voridis, Head of the OSCE PA delegation, and Ambassador Audrey Glover, Head of the OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission.

The International Election Observation Mission comprises a total of some 320 observers from 43 countries, including 210 long-term and short-term observers deployed by the OSCE/ODIHR and 104 parliamentarians and staff from the OSCE PA.

Journalists are invited to attend the press conference at 15:00 on Wednesday, 9 November, in the First Amendment Lounge of the National Press Club, 529 14th Street K Street NW, Washington, D.C.
