OSCE PA's Hadjiyianni and Cardin issue statement on Yom Kippur shooting in Germany

Kyriakos Hadjiyianni and Ben CardinKyriakos Hadjiyianni and Ben CardinCOPENHAGEN/WASHINGTON, 10 October 2019 – In response to the shooting yesterday outside of a synagogue in Halle, Germany, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions Committee Chair Kyriakos Hadjiyianni (Cyprus) and OSCE PA Special Representative on Anti-Semitism, Racism and Intolerance Ben Cardin (United States) issued the following joint statement:

“We are deeply disturbed by yesterday’s shocking attack in Halle, Germany, which killed two innocent victims outside a synagogue on Yom Kippur. Our thoughts are with their families and the survivors of this horrific shooting. We will continue to work through the OSCE PA to support measures to address rising intolerance and anti-Semitism across our region, and to bridge the divisions in our societies that continue to spur these tragic acts of violence.”
