OSCE PA Special Representative Szabo condemns terrorist attack in Sydney

COPENHAGEN, 15 December 2025 – The following statement was issued today by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Special Representative on Combating Racism, Anti-Semitism, Xenophobia, and Discrimination, Timea Szabo, following the anti-Semitic terrorist attack in Australia, an OSCE Partner for Co-operation.

“I am deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific attack in Sydney, which targeted the Jewish community during Hanukkah, claiming the lives of 15 people and injuring 29 others. I express my heartfelt solidarity with Jewish communities in Australia and around the world.

This heinous act of violence against a religious community stands in direct opposition to the core values of the OSCE. All forms of anti-Semitism, racism, xenophobia, and hatred directed at any religious or minority group are unacceptable and must be unequivocally condemned.

I extend my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, and my thoughts are with all those injured as they recover.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly remains firmly committed to confronting hatred in all its forms and upholding the principles of dignity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, as enshrined in the Helsinki principles that guide our organization and its work.”
