(Photo: Reuters)COPENHAGEN, 6 May 2026 – OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Pere Joan Pons (Spain) has named Nancy Faeser (Germany) as the new Chair of the OSCE PA’s Parliamentary Support Team for Ukraine (PSTU). In his appointment letter, the President noted that Faeser brings an extensive set of political experience to this role, expressing confidence that her leadership will help ensure that Ukraine’s needs remain at the forefront of the OSCE PA’s activities.
Faeser welcomed the opportunity and pledged to ensure the highest level of engagement to ensure continued short- and long-term support for Ukraine within the Assembly.
“I am honoured to take on this responsibility at such a critical moment for Ukraine,” she said. “The Parliamentary Assembly has been unwavering in its support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence. I intend to further strengthen this work by deepening our engagement with the Verkhovna Rada and advancing follow up to OSCE PA Declarations. As Chair, I will ensure that our parliamentary contribution remains co-ordinated, targeted and focused on delivering tangible support to Ukraine’s institutions and people.”
A member of the PA’s German Delegation since May 2025, Faeser has held numerous leadership positions at both state and federal levels in Germany, including serving as Interior Minister from 2021 to 2025. In that capacity, she was responsible for national security, migration policy, and the protection of democratic institutions, gaining extensive experience in crisis management and international co-operation.
