COPENHAGEN, 10 June 2026 – OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Pere Joan Pons (Spain) and Chair of the Parliamentary Support Team for Ukraine Nancy Faeser (Germany), together with other members of the PSTU, today issued the following statement:
“We remain deeply concerned about the continued escalation of Russia’s war against Ukraine. As noted in our recent statements, the situation carries serious risks and the OSCE has a responsibility to warn early when security is deteriorating.
The Assembly continues to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and its right to make its own decisions, including how it chooses to address the consequences of the war. In this context, we take note of President Zelenskyy’s readiness to consider a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation.
We also welcome the support of the United States and the emerging position of the European Union and United Kingdom in favour of renewed diplomatic efforts, recognizing that constructive engagement by key international partners can help create the conditions for meaningful negotiations aimed at preventing further escalation.
Any effort by Ukraine to reduce the impact of the war on its people deserves attention and support.”
