OSCE PA announces new Communications Director

COPENHAGEN, 7 February 2011 – The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) today announced Neil Simon as the Assembly's Director of Communications.

Mr. Simon brings more than a decade of journalism and public affairs experience to the organization having most recently served as the Communications Director for the U.S. Helsinki Commission based in Washington. He has been a part of several OSCE PA meetings in the past two years and participated in the U.S. election observation team in Ukraine in 2010. The Commission is chaired by U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin, a Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly.

As a television journalist in the United States, Mr. Simon was honoured numerous times by the Associated Press and other organizations for investigative reporting uncovering unsafe worker conditions in Mexico, faulty security systems at U.S. airports, and political corruption. He has worked for CBS News, Fox News, local NBC stations and served as a contributing editor to Hispanic Business magazine.

Mr. Simon is a graduate of Northwestern University with degrees in political science and journalism and a minor in history.
